Yacine è nata il 10 gennaio 1997 sull’isola di Fogo, a São Filipe, Capo Verde — una terra dove il vulcano dorme e il mare sussurra i suoi antichi segreti.
Fin dalla tenera età, la musica l’ha trovata. A 15 anni, la sua voce è sbocciata nel coro della Chiesa di Santa Cecília, riempiendo di melodia le sacre mura della sua terra natale. A 16 anni, le è stato affidato il canto del carnevale della città — e in quell’istante, come una scintilla che si accende, sono iniziati ad arrivare gli inviti, chiamandola sui palcoscenici locali, nei ristoranti e nei raduni, tutti desiderosi di ascoltarla cantare.
Il suo percorso è stato un sentiero di note e incontri, di festival che celebrano il cuore di Capo Verde: Festival di Mosteiros, Festa do Café, Festa de São Filipe, Vozes das Ilhas, Sal em Cena, Nha Santana, Semana d’Art de São Filipe… Ogni esibizione è un dialogo tra la sua voce e la sua terra, ogni palcoscenico uno spazio dove il suo canto diventa memoria. La sua musica ha trovato casa anche in spazi culturali come Quintal da Música, Poeta, Hotel Vulcão, Aviz e Bar da Rosa, raggiungendo i cuori ovunque toccasse.
Nell’aprile 2025, Yacine ha illuminato il palcoscenico del prestigioso AME Festival. La sua performance, potente e indimenticabile, ha risuonato in tutta la società capoverdiana ed è stata celebrata nei media nazionali, consolidando il suo posto come una delle voci più notevoli del panorama musicale del paese.
