Maddalena Scagnelli lives and works in the wild  valleys of the north-western Apennines in Italy.  She plays and sings in the  group Enerbia as well as being the artistic director of the Appennino Festival. Between Genoa and Milan, an extraordinary musical tradition is alive. This  area is home to one of the most interesting repertoires of traditional Italian music, called the “Four Provinces “.  At the Appennino Festival one can listen to peculiar bagpipes, like the piva  and  the piffero ,  but also dance traditional dances in a circle and sing wonderful folk songs in small country inns together with musicians  Appennino Festival, however, is not just an exhibition  of local music but explores connections with  other music repertoires  and  art forms.
