Il Festival Ethnos,  organizzato da La Bazzarra è stato ideato da Gigi Di Luca nel 1995 per promuovere la conoscenza delle “culture del mondo” e la valorizzazione dei beni storici del golfo di Napoli, attraverso la programmazione di spettacoli, concerti, visite guidate, itinerari naturalistici, stage, convegni in differenti città. Le location del festival sono scelte con cura tra le innumerevoli ville vesuviane, complessi monumentali, musei, parchi archeologici e sentieri naturalistici.

In 27 edizioni Il festival si è affermato a livello internazionale diventando il maggior festival della World Music in Campania e nel Sud Italia, vetrina per molti artisti famosi che si sono esibiti come Miriam Makeba, Mercedes Sosa, Inti Illimani, Khaled, Dulce Pontes, Buena Vista Social Club, Gilberto Gil, The Cheftains, Rokia Traorè, Omou Sangarè, Anouar Brahem, Dhaffer Youssef, Zakir Hussaìn,  il premio oscar Sakamoto, Cheikka Remitti, Abdelli, Omar Sosa, Bombino, il progetto Le Vie della Seta con 30 artisti del centro Asia, e poi popoli Tuareg, Aborigeni, Indiani d’America, Mongoli, artisti Sufi, Gnawa, Israeliani e Palestinesi, provenienti dai più svariati luoghi della terra e numerosi  artisti italiani.

Il festival ha, inoltre, sviluppato progetti collaterali di inclusione e di formazione come Ethnos Gener/Azioni contest under 35 aperto a 4 categorie, musica, teatro, danza e cinema, Ethnos per le Scuole, il Premio Ethnos riconoscimento che viene dato a personalità che si sono distinte nell’ambito della difesa dei diritti umani, e produzioni artistiche multidisciplinari affermando la sua natura di grande evento culturale ed interculturale seguito da migliaia di spettatori.

The Ethnos Festival, organised by La Bazzarra, was conceived by Gigi Di Luca in 1995 to promote knowledge of ‘world cultures’ and the enhancement of the historical heritage of the Gulf of Naples, through the programming of shows, concerts, guided tours, nature trails, stages, and conferences in different cities. The festival locations are carefully chosen from among the countless Vesuvian villas, monumental complexes, museums, archaeological parks and nature trails. In 27 editions, the festival has established itself internationally, becoming the largest World Music festival in Campania and Southern Italy, a showcase for many famous artists who have performed, such as Miriam Makeba, Mercedes Sosa, Inti Illimani, Khaled, Dulce Pontes, Buena Vista Social Club, Gilberto Gil, The Cheftains, Rokia Traorè, Omou Sangarè, Anouar Brahem, Dhaffer Youssef, Zakir Hussaìn, the Oscar-winning Sakamoto, Cheikka Remitti, Abdelli, Omar Sosa, Bombino, the Silk Roads project with 30 artists from Central Asia, as well as Tuareg, Aboriginal, American Indian, Mongolian, Sufi, Gnawa, Israeli and Palestinian artists from the most diverse parts of the world and numerous Italian artists. The festival has also developed side projects for inclusion and training, such as Ethnos Gener/Actions, an under-35 contest open to four categories: music, theatre, dance and cinema, Ethnos for Schools, the Ethnos Prize, an award given to personalities who have distinguished themselves in the defence of human rights, and multidisciplinary artistic productions, affirming its nature as a great cultural and intercultural event attended by thousands of spectators.
